EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Las Cruces Police Department's Traffic Unit issued 54 citations during a one-hour enforcement operation on Tuesday, Nov. 4, on U.S. Highway 70 westbound near Rinconada Boulevard.

Police say the 54 citations included 26 for motorists exceeding the posted speed limit, 14 for drivers without proper registration, and eight for driving with no proof of insurance.

Five citations were issued for operating a motor vehicle without a driver's license, and one was for using a cell phone while driving, police said.

Police say they will likely hold similar traffic enforcement operations in the coming weeks.
