KILGORE, Texas (KLTV) - A former instructional aide for Kilgore ISD received 10 years deferred adjucation for having an improper relationship with a student.

Kayla Nicole O’Dell, 34, of Gladewater, pleaded guilty in Judge Novy’s courtroom Tuesday morning.

According to KISD, O’dell was first employed by the school in August of 2023 and resigned in January of 2025. The district says an investigation had begun into possible educator misconduct involving O’dell.

O’dell was first arrested in February of 2025.

O’dell was given 10 years of deferred adjucation with the possibility of a 2-20 year prison sentence if she violates her parole.

O’dell will not have to register as a sex offender due to the student being 17-years-old or older and her clean criminal record prior to the offense.
