CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cuyahoga County officials say they have not yet received details from the state or federal government about when food assistance will resume or how much residents will receive, as delays in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) continue to leave thousands of local households without benefits.
President Donald Trump’s administration said Monday it will partially fund SNAP this month after two federal judges ordered the U.S. Department of Agriculture to keep the program running during the federal shutdown. It will tap $4.5 billion in contingency funds to cover part of November’s benefits, but the amount falls far short of the $8 billion needed nationwide to pay full benefits each month.
