Star Trek Beyond was, apparently, the final frontier. Almost 10 years have passed since the rebooted, big-screen Star Trek cast was seen in theaters , and in that time, many, many attempts have been made to bring it back. Now though, with Paramount under new leadership, it seems as if the decision has finally been made. Star Trek 4 is dead, and the Enterprise crew will be reborn.
Variety reported the news in a long piece about the new head of Paramount, David Ellison: “The hope is to have a fresh Star Trek movie, though the studio has moved on from the idea of bringing back Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and the rest of the ensemble from the J.J. Abrams reboot.” This is different from reports just a few months back that claimed a fourth trip with Pine and crew was on the books
