Police said two youths were sitting on a bench in the park when they were approached by three suspects. One suspect allegedly brandished a can of bear spray and demanded the pair’s cellphones and other property.
When one of the youths resisted, he was struck in the face, according to police.
The two youths eventually managed to flee to a nearby business in the 900 block of Ottawa Street, where they called 911 for assistance.
Officials said there were no serious injuries reported and no property was taken.
The first suspect is described as a white male, approximately six-feet tall, with a slender build and blonde wavy hair. He was wearing a black sweater and black pants.
