WISCONSIN (WFRV) - The Wisconsin Humane Society is urgently seeking help from the community after an unprecedented total of surrendered cats in recent days.
According to a release from Wisconsin Humane Society Media Specialist Corey Viars, Friday, October 31, saw a large number of surrendered/stray cats and kittens.
The Wisconsin Humane Society said there were 121 cats/kittens taken to their locations on Friday, and the Milwaukee Campus saw a total of 47 from a single home.
As a result, the Milwaukee Campus set up emergency housing in office spaces, as there are currently 1,500 animals across all Wisconsin Humane Society locations, 1,100 of which are cats.
According to the release, it's an increase of about 250 on a daily basis compared to 2024.
