More than 1,000 Sakonnet-area residents are expected to be impacted by the recent government cuts to SNAP benefits, but the Little Compton Community Center and others are stepping up to help those in need.
More senior meals
Traditionally, the Little Compton Community Center holds senior lunches on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, aimed at both providing a warm meal for the elderly population and giving seniors a place to socialize. Due to the recent suspension of SNAP benefits as the federal government shutdown continues, the Community Center will now serve lunches on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well.
