Amid signs the Trump administration intends to string out paying partial SNAP benefits for "weeks or months," the Rhode Island State Council of Churches and other plaintiffs have asked a federal judge to order the administration to restore full funding immediately.

U.S. District Court Judge John McConnell earlier gave the government until noon, Nov. 5, at the latest, to make at least partial payments to the millions of people nationwide – and the 140,000-plus people in Rhode Island – who depend on the federal nutrition assistance program commonly known as Food Stamps.
