Officers had to call for back up because the crowd was so big
At least three people were assaulted, and it took more than 20 police officers about two hours to break up an "overwhelming, unruly crowd" of about 1,000 people in Providence early on the morning of Saturday, November 1, according to the Providence police.
The gathering at Eaton Street, Radcliffe Avenue and side streets near Providence College caught the Police Department's attention shortly after midnight on Halloween. The police report said the crowd included students and non-students.
