LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Two homes in Leoni Township have tested positive for elevated levels of lead in drinking water.
The township reports that they periodically test tap water in homes for lead and copper. Samples were recently collected from 10 homes, with two exceeding acceptable levels.
The Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) evaluates compliance with lead and copper safety standards using the Action Level, which is a measure of the effectiveness of the corrosion control treatment in water systems
The Action Level is based on the 90th percentile of lead and copper results collected during a sampling. The lead 90th percentile for Leoni Township is 19 parts per billion (ppb), which exceeds the Action Level of 12 ppb.
Due to more than 10% of homes having result
