JACKSON COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) - Leoni Township has identified elevated levels of lead in the drinking water of several homes and buildings following recent water testing.
As part of its regular monitoring, the township periodically tests tap water in homes for lead and copper.
During the latest round of sampling, water was collected from 10 homes, and two were found to have lead levels above the acceptable limit.
To help residents reduce potential lead exposure, Leoni Township is sharing the following guidance:
Check your service line: Determine whether your home’s service line is made of lead, galvanized steel, or another material. Homes with lead service lines are at higher risk for elevated lead levels in drinking water.
