PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Peoria Public School staff gathered Monday to celebrate accomplishments on this year’s state report card scores, but not all scores were positive.

The Illinois Board of Education released its annual report as part of an assessment to measure progress in academic performance and student success.

This year, the threshold was lowered . According to ISBE, prior performance levels mislabeled many students in elementary and high school, often indicating that students were less academically successful and prepared for college than they actually were.

“Growth has increased significantly,” said PPS Superintendent Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat in a press conference Monday. “Even with the re-calibration of the proficiency cut scores, we have still improved.”
