BLOOMINGTON ( 25News Now ) - The Salvation Army of Bloomington reopened its emergency winter shelter Monday, with plans to expand capacity as temperatures drop and demand increases.

The shelter typically serves about 50 people but will expand to welcome 30 additional people each night as needed. Guests have access to showers, hot meals, laundry, and case management services.

Staff members said they are already seeing increased demand for services, particularly as the government shutdown creates additional strain on families and individuals.
