GOSHEN – Junior Calvin Steele’s second-half goal gave top-seeded Rhinebeck a 1-0 win over Burke Catholic on Monday in the Section 9 Class C boys’ soccer championship at Goshen High.
Rhinebeck (11-4-1) received a bye in the state tournament and will play Albany-area champion Maple Hill in the quarterfinals at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at Marlboro High School. Rhinebeck is the sixth-ranked Class C team in the state, and Maple Hill (17-3) is ranked fourth.
Rhinebeck vs. Burke Catholic served as a rematch of last year’s Class C final. The Hawks won that game 5-0. Burke Catholic, the third seed, finishes this year 9-5-1.
