DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) -- The third and final defendant in the case of a pregnant woman's murder in Decatur two years ago was sentenced to 15 years in prison after he took a plea deal with prosecutors.
Mattavius Anderson, 21, was in Macon County Court on Monday for a disposition hearing in the murder case filed against him. Court records show Anderson was set to go on trial on Tuesday, and he would have been tried from the bench, having waived a trial by jury on Sept. 26.
But on Oct. 16, the parties indicated to Judge Thomas Griffith that a plea deal had been reached, and a disposition hearing was set for Monday.
The deal saw all nine counts against Anderson -- including murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and aggravated battery with a firearm -- dismissed. Anderson was then charge
