Despite several seats on the Greeley City Council going up for election and two state ballot issues, the polls Tuesday morning suggested the county’s voter turnout will be less than half of what it was last year.

Workers at the voting booths said estimated an average of four people or fewer voting every hour.

“We had like 10 that came the whole day yesterday from 8 to 5,” said William McKellan, an election worker at the UNC voting location. “Then maybe two drop-offs. There are probably 20 in there now, so there’s already more in there now than what we got yesterday.”

During last year’s presidential election, voter turnout across Weld hit nearly 71%. In 2023, during Greeley’s last mayoral election, voter turnout was more comparable to this year, with a 36% voter turnout across the county
