Dothan Fire Department names David Hasty as new fire chief

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) -- It is with much pleasure that the City of Dothan announces the appointment of David Hasty to the position of Fire Chief in Dothan, Alabama. Taking position on January 1, 2026.

After serving for two years with the Dothan Police Department, Chief David Hasty transferred to the Dothan Fire Department in January 1999. He worked in operations for 19 years after graduating from Dothan Fire Recruit School, acquiring the skills and information required to move up the ranks from firefighter to sergeant, captain, and battalion chief.

Before moving to the Fire Administration, Fire Prevention Division, to become the Chief of Prevention, Chief Hasty served for seven years as a Battalion Chief in Operations.
