DELTONA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said its deputies responded to a home in Deltona, where a young man armed with a hunting knife injured an individual and threatened to kill four children on Sunday.
Body camera footage showed the man, Trevor Nieves-Gonzalez, pacing near the driveway of his home after refusing to drop the knife he wielded.
Nieves-Gonzalez's father placed himself between his son and the first responding deputy to prevent a potential shooting, VSO said.
After shouting profanities, Nieves-Gonzalez threw down the knife.
According to VSO, Nieves-Gonzalez spit on a second responding deputy that arrived at the home before both deputies deployed tasers.
The father was treated for a knife wound to the back of his head that he sustained prior to deputies
