Shawn Osborne has spent most of his life in uniform, but racism and discrimination were never far away for the Indigenous veteran and retired police officer.

The Corunna resident who had a total of 33 years of service as a police officer, following time spent serving in the army reserves, spoke about the experiences of Indigenous veterans Tuesday to the Kiwanis club of Sarnia-Lambton Golden K.

Osborne retired after serving as chief training officer for the Sarnia police. He came to the city’s police service after time as a police officer at Walpole Island First Nation, the RCMP and serving in the reserves.
