OKLAHOMA CITY (KNWA/KFTA) — Oklahoma officials say dozens were arrested in an immigration operation in the eastern part of the state last month.
The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety said the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement joined forces on Interstate 40 for a 15-hour operation as part of "Operation Guardian."
Some 70 unauthorized migrants were taken into custody for immigration violations, with 34 of them driving commercial motor vehicles (CMVs).
Three more were taken into state custody on criminal charges.
Of the 73 total that were apprehended, OKDPS said one had a confirmed warrant from Interpol and another had an active felony warrant for burglary.
