BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Elks Lodge is slated to host a food drive for veterans in mid-November.

The 4th annual Veteran Blanket & Food Drive, held by the Volunteer Center of Kern County, is scheduled to take place between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m., on Nov. 13.

The lodge is located at #226 1616 30th Street.

Organizers said they are looking for new blankets, jackets, socks, beanies, gloves and mittens, as well as food items.

Accepted food items include canned green beans, corn, cut sweet potatoes, canned turkey gravy and dried French onions.

Boxes of mashed potatoes and Stove Top Stuffing Mix are also desperately needed.

All the donated items will be made into boxes that will be distributed to local veterans at Thanksgiving, officials said.
