The North Bay Police Service (NBPS), in partnership with Victim Services of Nipissing District (VSND), recognizes November as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month highlights the significant impact of domestic violence on the community. It provides an opportunity to educate the public on recognizing the signs of abuse, understanding available resources, and encouraging victims and witnesses to seek help safely.

Domestic violence and related statistics in Nipissing District (Jan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024):

· Intimate Partner Violence (IPV): 545 calls for service, 614 individuals* supported

· Sexual Violence: 167 calls for service, 246 individuals* supported

· Criminal Harassment: 130 calls for service, 151 individuals* supported

· Human Trafficking: 14 call
