MADISON (WKOW) — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced that the 2025 gun deer season will begin on Nov. 22 and continue through Nov. 30.
Hunters are reminded that this year's opener is later in the month, which could affect deer movement.
Through Oct. 31, sales for hunting licenses reached 463,983, with 137,394 specifically for gun privileges, the DNR reported. Hunters should note updates to the Deer Management Units (DMUs) in the Northern Forest Management Zones, now based on habitat rather than counties.
All harvested deer must be registered electronically by 5 p.m. the day after recovery. Proper registration aids in managing Wisconsin’s deer population.
