HEDGESVILLE - By the time the fourth set came around during Monday's Class AAAA, North Region volleyball co-final, Hedgesville coach Allison Whitford saw the kind of performance she was expecting to see from her team from the very beginning.

After a rough start, which saw the Eagles drop the first set, Hedgesville rallied to take the final three sets en route to a 3-1 (27-29, 25-17, 25-16, 25-14) victory over Spring Mills, earning a spot in next week's state tournament.

The defending state champion Eagles (39-3-3) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first set with Gillian Sikes serving and led by as much as six points on three separate occasions - 8-2 on a kill by Gracie Brown, 11-5 on a combined block by Grace Lathwell and Jayanna Ware and 13-7 after an ace from Brown.
