BOISE, Idaho — Flags in the State of Idaho and across the United States will be flown at half-staff on Tuesday to honor former Vice President Dick Cheney .

U.S. flag code requires the American flag to be flown at half-staff from the "day of death until interment" of a former Vice President. Cheney's day of internment has not yet been established.

Cheney died on Monday because of pneumonia, cardiac and vascular disease complications, according to a statement from his family. He had been battling heart disease throughout his time in the Bush administration, surviving five heart attacks. Cheney underwent a heart transplant in 2012.
