An operational test launch of an Air Force Global Strike Command unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile from north Vandenberg Space Force Base is scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday.

A spontaneous launch window is scheduled to open tonight between 11:01 p.m. and 5:01 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, from Vandenberg's Test Range.

Consistent with previous routine test launches, the mission is being conducted by Air Force Global Strike Command with support from Vandenberg Guardians and Airmen, and was scheduled years in advance.

The ICBM test launch will verify the readiness of U.S. nuclear forces and validate the lethality and effectiveness of the nation’s nuclear deterrent weapon system, according to base officials.
