DETROIT -- Jack Flaherty is staying.
The Tigers right-hander, who had an option for 2026 in the deal he signed last February, has decided to remain with the club, the team announced Tuesday. The decision gives the Tigers some certainty in an offseason that will bring some level of change to the rotation coming off a second consecutive playoff run.
The option was a key part of the two-year contract Flaherty signed to return to the Tigers back in February, essentially making it a one-year deal with a player option for 2026. The option was originally worth $10 million, but doubled once he reached an escalator clause for 15 starts this season.
That escalator left Flaherty with a decision at the end of a difficult season in which he finished with an 8-15 record and a 4.64 ERA. Flaherty reg
