COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Our next supermoon will be the closest of all of 2025 and is likely to appear brighter.
A supermoon occurs when the moon reaches the closest point in its orbit to the Earth. And just how close is this year’s closest supermoon? Wednesday morning, the moon will be 221,817 miles from Earth.
While you will be able to see the supermoon several nights, it reaches peak illumination at around 8:20 a.m. Wednesday.
You may have heard this week’s supermoon referred to as the Beaver Moon. However, according to EarthSky.com, this full moon rises before Nov. 7, which makes it the Hunter’s Moon.
Should a full moon rise after Nov. 7, it is called the Beaver Moon.
