The plan to extend the LRT to Cambridge cleared a hurdle Tuesday, with a regional committee endorsing a business case for Stage 2 of the project in a 15-1 vote.
Waterloo Region’s sustainability, infrastructure and development committee has now directed staff to pursue government funding for its construction.
After hearing from about two dozen delegations, Cambridge regional Coun. Pam Wolf said she was happy to support the motion based on what she heard from the many who gave it support — including an accessibility advocate, developers, local BIAs and the Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
“When I speak with residents, I hear overwhelming support for the LRT,” said Wolf. “Let’s stand together and move forward with confidence.”
