LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — Lakeland voters took to the polls Tuesday to choose the city's next mayor.

Four candidates are vying for the position for the first time since Mayor Bill Mutz took office in 2018. Mutz decided that he would not be running for a third term.

The candidates include Kay Klymko, Kaitlin Gracie Kramer, Sara Roberts McCarley and Cedrick Valrie.

They each come from different backgrounds, with all but one new to the political sphere.

All four boast previous experience in leadership roles, though in different sectors such as healthcare, education and restaurant management.

Polls opened at 7 a.m., and voters have until 7 p.m. to finish casting their ballots.

Voters will also be deciding on two commissioner seats in districts C and D and three charter amendments.
