CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Jury selection is moving into its second week in the homicide trial for the killing of Scott Brooks, co-owner of the longtime Charlotte staple Brooks Sandwich House.

So far, 11 people; four men and seven women have been selected to serve on the jury. The court still needs one more juror and four alternates before opening statements can begin.

Steven Staples and Terry Connor are accused of killing Scott Brooks during a robbery attempt in December 2019. Brooks was opening the family’s restaurant in NoDa early that morning when he was shot and killed.

After more than a week of questioning, attorneys are still working to seat a full panel. On Tuesday, attorneys continued asking potential jurors about their backgrounds, jobs and life experiences. They also discussed issues
