ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM)--- Today is Election Day, and local election coordinators say turnout across the Twin Tiers is right on track for an off-year election.
Sperry Navone, a Republican Commissioner for the Chemung County Board of Elections, says participation is similar to that of past years.
"We're at about 4,300 voters as of we're talking right now, so that's about on track for an off-election year," said Navone.
While the turnout might not be as high as a presidential or midterm election, election officials say the numbers are what they expected.
"We're not that discouraged because this is very typical, and it has nothing to do, I believe, with political climate and so forth; it's just the natural cycle of elections and so forth and people's involvement," said Brian Eslinger, Schuyle
