KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — While some Head Start programs across the country are feeling the effects of the government shutdown, Knoxville-Knox County Head Start is not, but the community is still giving its support to the nonprofit.
Knoxville-Knox County Head Start Special Projects Coordinator, Donna Ford, said that because they receive their federal funding at the beginning of the year each year, they are not currently impacted by the government shutdown.
But when it comes to projects like bringing a natural playground to the children they serve, they need the community’s support to complete it.
“My very first interaction with Donna was when she was out here sanding these stumps right behind us, and it really touched my heart,” said Qais Arabo, a local Lowe's employee. “She does it all
