BARRE, Vt. (ABC22-FOX44) – Voters in Barre City turned out Tuesday to make decisions on several local ballot items, including two proposals that could reshape the city’s downtown and strengthen its flood resiliency.

One of the most talked-about measures is a $2.4 million bond tied to the proposed Stevens Branch Apartments on Seminary Street. The project would bring 31 flood-resilient affordable housing units to what is now an underutilized municipal parking lot.

If approved, the bond would fund public infrastructure improvements, including upgraded water and sewer lines, new utility work, and streetscape enhancements to support both the housing development and broader downtown revitalization efforts.

City officials say the debt payments would be covered by tax increment financing (TIF)
