A UPS plane crashed shortly after takeoff from the airport in Louisville, Kentucky, causing several injuries and a large fire that sent a plume of smoke high into the sky, officials said Tuesday, Nov. 4.
"UPS Flight 2976 crashed around 5:15 p.m. local time on Tuesday, Nov. 4, after departing from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in Kentucky," the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement, adding that the plane was en route to Honolulu.
The Louisville Metro Police Department said on X at around 5:24 p.m. local time that multiple agencies were responding to a reported plane crash near Fern Valley Road and Grade Lane. The area is just south of the airport.
