The Mesa City Council approved a dollar increase for a contract for radio equipment and parts for the Mesa Police Department at their recent meeting.

The vote passed 7-0 as part of a multi-item consent agenda. The vote increased the State of Arizona and Maricopa County cooperative contracts with Motorola Solutions, Inc., and Durham Communications, Inc., and JVCKenwood USA Corporation by $9,040,000, from $3,010,000 to $12,050,000 annually.

Although the contract will be primarily used for Mesa PD, other city departments will also be able to take advantage of the contract’s dollar increase. This includes the Mesa Fire Department and Department of Innovation and Technology.
