A highly anticipated Election Day is coming to a close in Virginia with results trickling in for races to name the state’s next top leaders: governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general.

At the top of the ticket, Democratic former Rep. Abigail Spanberger is running against Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears for governor.

Ballots are being tallied throughout the commonwealth. Very early results show Spanberger has a lead with 55.9% of the votes compared to Earle-Sears’ 43.9% as of 7:45 p.m., according to The Associated Press. Those results come with 25% of votes counted.
