Baton Rouge Fire Dept. earns top rating from insurance group

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Baton Rouge Fire Department has achieved a class-one rating from the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana, scoring 95 out of 100 on its most recent test.

This marks the 45th consecutive year the department has received top marks, making it the only department in the nation to achieve this distinction for such a long period.

Fire Chief Michael Kimble credited the entire city for the achievement, highlighting the collaborative effort required to maintain such high standards.

Chief Kimble emphasized the importance of various city departments in supporting the fire department's success. "Everybody plays a vital role," he said, noting that the Department of Public Works maintains generators for backup power, which is crucial during outages.
