OLYMPIA, Wash. – Governor Bob Ferguson announced updates on the distribution of SNAP benefits on Tuesday.
“This morning, we received guidance from the federal government on how to administer partial SNAP benefits. That guidance indicates SNAP recipients will get 50% of their usual benefits,” Governor Ferguson stated.
Ferguson criticized President Donald Trump’s “callous social media statement” on the subject, in which the president claimed that SNAP benefits increased by billions of dollars under Joe Biden’s administration and were “haphazardly ‘handed’ to anyone for the asking.”
Despite the federal challenges, Ferguson assured citizens that preparations are underway to distribute benefits swiftly once federal funding is available.
