NEW YORK (PIX11) – It’s election night in the tri-state area. The polls have closed in New Jersey, and New Yorkers have one hour left to cast their ballot.
In New York, voters are choosing between Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and Republican Curtis Sliwa for mayor.
A recent poll from PIX11, Emerson College Polling, and The Hill showed 34-year-old Mamdani with a commanding lead. Just under 50% of New Yorkers polled favored Mamdani, and 25% favored Cuomo. In June, Mamdani beat Cuomo for the Democratic nomination.
In New Jersey, voters are deciding on a new governor, between Democrat Mikie Sherrill and Republican Jack Ciattarelli. Sherrill held just a 1% lead over her Republican opponent in a recent PIX11 poll.
