MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – Incumbent Alvin J. Bragg, Jr. has won his reelection bid for Manhattan district attorney.
Bragg defeated Republican candidate Maud Maron, who has served as a public defender in Manhattan and the Bronx for over 20 years.
Key issues of Bragg’s campaign included stopping gun violence, addressing mental health and disorder, and making the subway safer.
Bragg became Manhattan’s first Black district attorney in 2022, taking over the office from retiring District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. He is the fourth elected district attorney in Manhattan in the last eight decades.
Bragg’s career includes time as a federal prosecutor, an assistant attorney general for the state of New York, and a civil rights attorney.
