PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A Phoenix man is mourning the loss of his miniature horse after a coyote attack in his backyard early Monday morning.

Chris Kemper found his 5-year-old miniature horse, Eevee, dead and mutilated in his yard near 19th Avenue and Northern Avenue.

“I’m just really going to miss her, it’s just horrible. I don’t know what else to say,” Kemper said. “This was our pet, we’ve had her for over five years. I’m just devastated.”

Attack discovered after strange noises

Kemper said his friend heard strange noises early Monday morning and went outside to investigate.

“He saw a coyote running from one end of the yard down to the other side of the house and out,” Kemper said.

When Kemper rushed outside, he found what remained of Eevee.
