TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Former East Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert is sharing memories of former Vice President Dick Cheney, who came to Longview in 2004 to campaign for Gohmert.
Gohmert recalled a conversation he had with the vice president after noticing Cheney had an entire restroom roped off just for him at Maude Cobb Convention Center.
“When we were alone, I said ‘as I walked by the restroom just for you, it dawned on me it must be awfully lonely doing what you do so much of the time.’ And he said, ‘you have no idea.’ And I know it was. But he never talked about it. He was just quite the statesman. He did his job,” Gohmert said.
