The high-stakes trial for the wife of suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez is scheduled to begin next Monday.
"Ms. Yard, have you waived speedy yet?" Judge Brian Welke asked Robin Severance-Lopez’s defense attorney during a virtual hearing Tuesday.
"No, we have not," attorney Michelle Yard replied.
Statewide prosecutor Panagiota Papakos told the judge they are prepared for a two-week trial for Robin Lopez to begin on Nov. 10.
Yard told WESH 2 she will make a final call on going to trial next week after she looks at evidence the state is sending her overnight, but she doubts that will be significant enough to delay it with her client locked up indefinitely.
