The Sunshine State was once considered a little slice of paradise, the whole package, beautiful and affordable.Now the package is splitting at the seams.

Rent and house prices shot up during COVID. The cost of living has shot up to the point that, according to a recent poll, almost half of Floridians, 42% have considered leaving the state because they simply can't afford it.

Hattie Wolfe, who moved to Florida in the 60s, said, "Well, it's understandable. It's beautiful. Look how magnificent it is, but you have to eat, and you have to have a roof over your head, so it doesn't surprise me at all."

A 36-year-old Orlando native plans to move to Georgia next year, saying prices are too high. He says he feels like Florida has forgotten its people.
