Canada’s federal government’s 2025 budget focuses on the country’s growth, prosperity and independence with infrastructure spending, controls its social programs and takes a hard line on its own public sector employees.
It has programs and elements that Sault Ste. Marie’s leaders believe can be tapped into to protect the local economy and help it grow.
Titled Canada Strong Budget 2025, Finance Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne called the long-awaited first Mark Carney government budget full of “generational investments” that will spur growth and help Canada beat the global tariff war. It is designed to protect key services, rid of waste, and create a robust economy through key investment.
