MACON, Ga. — The Macon-Bibb County Commission is taking a bite out of food insecurity in the Central Georgia area .
The commission approved $150,000 worth of funding toward fund distribution services at their meeting on Tuesday, according to a press release from the city. The goal is to help address food insecurity in the community, the release said.
“We truly show who we are as a community when we come together to support each other, and right now, families we all know need us to extend our hands,” Macon-Bibb Mayor Lester Miller said in the release. “With this one-time funding, we can help Macon-Bibb families overcome their immediate challenges, while helping prepare for those they may face in the near future.”
