Election Day polls closed at 9 p.m. on Tuesday and early esults are in.
Starting with the headlining race, Democratic State Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani, who lived on the Upper West Side for a large chunk of his childhood, has jumped out to an early lead over former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who was on the ballot as an independent, according to results reported by NY1.
Here’s the breakdown as of 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, which is 36 percent of the expected vote and includes Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa, according to NY1.
Zohran Mamdani (D): 51 percent (436,535 votes)
Andrew Cuomo (I): 40 percent (341,041 votes)
Curtis Sliwa (R): 8 percent (68,552 votes)
