CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 34-year-old man is charged with shooting a woman to death Sunday on Cleveland’s East Side.

The shooting occurred in the 3400 block of East 98th Street, where Cleveland police responded to assist officers from the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority.

Upon arrival, Cleveland police found CMHA officers aiding an unresponsive woman. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

Officials have not released the identities of either the victim or the suspect. Police have not provided details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The case has been assigned to Cleveland homicide detectives.

Investigators have responded to 90 homicides so far this year, compared with 95 at the same time last year.
