With early results in, Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz holds a significant lead over independent candidate Roberto Torres.
With 38 of Toledo’s 169 precincts reporting, Mr. Kapszukiewicz was leading with 62 percent of the vote to Mr. Torres’ 29.6 percent.
Mr. Kapszukiewicz, 53, came out on top in the May primary election, earning 53 percent of the vote. Mr. Torres, 62, was the runner-up with about 24 percent.
Independent candidate Harold Harris did not receive enough votes in the May primary election to make it onto Tuesday’s ballot, but he continued to run as a write-in candidate.
The Democratic incumbent focused his campaign on the city’s need for more housing of all kinds, from affordable housing to market-rate and work force.
